Picking

Recambios Nafer is a car accessories and spare parts distributor for repair shops. Its central offices are situated in San Sebastián and it has 8 establishments in the province of Gipuzkoa.

Need

One of the main difficulties of spare parts warehouses is the complexity of effectively organising the large number of references handled. Compartmentalising the warehouse using mezzanine or multi-tier was a useful solution for this type of warehouse, facilitating classification, organisation, access, and stock-taking.

Solution

The design of this spare parts warehouse envisioned several solutions:

  • Two types of racking were installed for manual handling of different load weights:
    1. Racking with racking beams and chipboard shelving for the heaviest items, with between 5 and 10 levels based on the size of the boxes/merchandise, and a load capacity of up to 250 kg per level.
    2. Racking with trays for lighter goods, with a load capacity of up to 110 kg per level.
  • A mezzanine floor of 316.65m2 was built above the zone where the racks were installed, to make the most of the space at height.
  • At the back of the warehouse, two pallet racking modules were installed for the storage of palletised items and drums.
