POLYPAL builds a Cantilever warehouse for Olarra steel rods

The company Aceros Inoxidables Olarra, global leader in the manufacture of stainless steel through horizontal continuous casting, contacted POLYPAL to devise a storage solution that would increase its storage capacity and reduce load handling times in its finished product warehouse.

Olarra is specialised in the manufacture of long stainless steel products, therefore the ideal solution for this type of merchandise is the cantilever system.

POLYPAL cantilever racking consists of a structure of single or double columns with cantilever arms. Any type of long load can be stored on it, irrespective of its length, as no structural element impedes handling.

Preliminary data

• Stainless steel rods are stored in baskets at ground level.
• Large quantity of references and lengths.

Current situation

• Gantry crane assisted by an automated trilateral movement system.
• Cantilever racking:

1. 1. Height: 8,400m
   2. Depth: 700 mm
   3. 204 load levels distributed in 17 heights.
   4. 2 single lines and 5 double ones of 38m in length.
   5. Max capacity/arm: 600 kg
   6. Distance between cantilever arms of 1,300 mm, valid for storing the wide variety of measurements.
